The Sweater Process: From the Andes to You
Every garment we create is connected to generations of knowledge, careful stewardship of the Peruvian highlands and the close bond between alpacas and the farmers who raise them. Here’s how your sweater comes to life.
Shearing the Alpacas
Our journey begins in the high Andes, where Alpacas roam freely. Skilled Farmers use a traditional shearing method technique called “esquila”, designed to minimize stress for the animals.
This method is officially recognized as a national technical standard in Peru
Why it matters: Shearing keeps alpacas healthy, preventing overheating, infections, and discomfort. Without it, the fleece can grow too long, putting the animals at risk of immobility, predation, and parasitic infections.
Sorting, Dyeing and Spinning
Once sheared, each fiber is hand-sorted by women specially trained to distinguish micron diameters. The thinner the fiber, the softer the fabric. This meticulous skill ensures that we use 100% baby alpaca for most of our garments, a tradition passed down through generations
The fibers are carefully washed, then dyed using eco-friendly methods, relying on the natural hues of the alpacas. After dyeing, the fibers are carded and spun into different yarns.
Knitting and Craftmanship
Our skilled Peruvian knitters transform these yarns into sweaters using specialized techniques and patterns to create a flexible dynamic sweater. Every motion of our artists contributes to a sweater that is not just clothing but a piece of living craft.
Packaging and Shipping
Every sweater is fully traceable from the Andes to your hand, carefully packaged for you.
